RESULTS-DRIVEN ADMINISTRATOR FOCUSED ON THE CRITICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SCHOOL COMMUNITIES.

With over 25 years of experience in public education, it has been my mission to ensure that the most accessible and exceptional pathways are provided to 100% of the students I serve. Beginning my professional career in Chicago Public Schools, I was able to be a part of the third-largest school district in the country, participating in school redesign and Urban Leadership programming with the University of Chicago as campus principal. Applied research allowed me to lead the city of Chicago’s second highest-performing sixth- through twelfth-grade campus, with a graduation rate of 98% and a 2nd-year return to college rate for our graduates of 76%.

In 2010, I moved to Austin, Texas, and joined the administrative team of Round Rock ISD, serving middle and high school students from across the district. There I was able to increase the participation rates in advanced academics for high school students, as well as participate on district-level committees, focused on teacher development to achieve academic increases for students and close the performance gap for sub-groups. My success in Round Rock ISD led to a position as an Administrative Supervisor in the Austin Independent School District, where I served alongside the Associate Superintendent of Middle Schools by providing instructional and operational leadership for 19 middle school campuses. In the two years serving as Administrative Supervisor, I had a transformative impact on campus instruction, moving from 5 IR rated campuses to 1 in two years. These experiences in Chicago Public Schools, Round Rock ISD, and Austin ISD prepared me to serve as the Director of Alternative Education, transforming 7 alternative campuses in the city of Austin by incorporating restorative practice in partnership with the Travis County Juvenile Division. I received recognition from the school district and TCJD for transformational change in alternative education for students and families.

Transformational change, evaluating systems, building teams, collaboration, and innovation are at the heart of my commitment to exceptional educational opportunities for all children. Post-secondary pathways and options for all children are the responsibility of every member of the school district, along with the empowerment and support of the entire community; creating spaces that honor life-long learning for children and adults.
