Primary Purpose:

As a Classroom Teacher, the candidate will ensure that students are provided with appropriate learning activities and experience in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. As a Defensive Coordinator, the candidate leads all defensive strategies, planning, and play-calling, responsible for developing players, conducting practices, and analyzing opponent films to ensure high-level performance.  Additionally, the Defensive Coordinator organizes and leads defensive practices, drills, and position group meetings, calls defensive plays and makes real-time, in-game adjustments during contests.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned

Demonstrated competency in athletics and the core academic subject area assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of core academic subject assigned

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Ability to coach student-athletes in assigned sport

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

One year student teaching, approved internship and equivalent coaching experience
